~ Hovercraft ~

I saw a picture of a hovercraft and just had to try and make an r/c version. The construction is fan-fold foam. The underpinning and canopy top are made of nylon. It is modeled loosely after a personal hovercraft produced by Universal Hovercraft.
Size: 20"x10"
Thrust/Power: Himax 2015-4100
Gearbox: GWS EPS D
Prop: 10x8
Battery: 3s 1200 E-tech (LiPoly)
Lift: Generated from airscoop behind prop
Direction: 3 rudders operated by 1 submicro servo

Does it Work? Oh yeah! Lots and lots of thrust. It is way overpowered. I usually cruise around at 1/3-1/2 throttle. There is a lot (almost too much) of lift and prop torque at higher throttles. I think with a set of wings it would fly. It works on any smooth surface (tile or gym floor, carpet, driveway, dirt, etc.) It will not work on grass and I have not tried it on water, yet. It was a fun project. Nice to make something from scratch that actually works. Some video?
